Water Off Temporarily in Caldwell

Irrigation water in the following area will be shut off from Wed. 6/8 through Fri. 6/10/2011 while the City of Caldwell completes a chipsealing project:

From North to South between the Lowline Canal and Linden

From East to West between Indiana and Montana

It is essential that water not be running down the streets and gutters while the City completes this project, so water will be unavailable during this time. It is our understanding that notices were sent to residents by the City, but we are posting this here just to help get the word out.

If you have questions on the chipsealing schedule, please call the City of Caldwell. Thank you!

Water Turn-In Date Set

Pioneer Irrigation District has set Friday, April 8, 2011, as the day water will be turned into our main canals. It does take some time to completely charge the system, and that is partially dependent upon weather. So, depending upon the weather, water should be available for delivery and use approximately April 15, 2011.

You may call your ditchrider after April 12 to find out exactly when water will be available in your area of the District. If you need to know who your ditchrider is, please call the District office at 459-3617.

The date for water to be shut off for the 2010 year has been set. The last day of delivery will be Thursday, October 14, 2010. The main diversion gates will be shut on Monday, October 18, 2010. This will allow for a few days of maintenance flushing. It may take another day or two for the system to drain completely, so even though water deliveries will stop on 10/14/2010, you will see water in the system for up to another week.

Canal Safety Reminder

With the recent warm weather, the staff and Board of Pioneer Irrigation wanted to remind people that swimming in and playing near canals and ditches is not only illegal; but can be deadly, as illustrated by a recent death in Eastern Idaho. To help spread the word, Pioneer issued a news release to again remind people to stay away from canals and ditches. You can read the news release here. You can also get additional canal safety information (including an educational coloring book for children in English and Spanish) on our Canal Safety page.
